Christmas is an age old Tradition coalescing from centuries. The history of Santa Claus says that the origin of Santa Claus happened to be in the fourth century. Santa Claus was an actual being, Saint Nicholas, a minor saint. Nicholas character for bounteousness and benevolence rose the legends of miracles he performed for the deprived and dejected. In the Middle Ages, dedication of Nicholas extended to all parts of Europe, but eventually disappeared in all the Protestant countries of Europe except Holland, where his legend persevered as Sinterklaas.  This tradition was then, taken to New Amsterdam by the Dutch colonists in 17th century. The countrys English-speaking majority adopted Sinterklaas with the name Santa Claus, and the legend of this compassionate old man united with old Nordic folktales of a magician who used to punish naughty children and rewarded good children with presents.

Moreover, some theories say that Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Sinterklaas, Kris Kringle or simply Santa. The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His rich parents, who raised him to be a religious Christian, died while Nicholas was a small child. He always remained with the Jesus words that sell what you have and give the money to the poor; Nicholas used these words in his whole life and help needy, sick people, and the suffering ones. He dedicated his whole life to serving God.

The Santa Claus has come to represent the spirit of magical positivity at Christmas. Santa is deemed to visit homes on the night of the Christmas Eve when everybody is asleep fetching gifts for children. Coming of Santa at homes symbolizes the new start, new season of all happiness, love, joy and positivity.  The Santa Claus comes to represent the spirit of optimism and new begining at Christmas.

Thus, on the night of the Christmas Eve his visit at homes is one of the oldest traditions in the history of Christians, is most admired, and Santa Claus gifts are the awaited one among the kids. There are some Santa Claus games and Santa Claus jokes, which become prominent during Christmas and people love to share it as it makes the full mood of this festival. Even the elders specially the Christians, believe that coming of Santa Claus at their places on Christmas night will bring all the happiness and shunning away all the miseries from their lives.
