Celebrating the True Essence of Christmas

Christmas is one of the most awaited festivals of the year. People talking about the great factors associated with the celebrate it throwing massive parties, family get togethers, decorating their homes or sometimes even through planning vacations. However, what people often miss out on is the real essence of Christmas.

The significance

The day traditionally commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. But do you know, why did he come? Why did God send his son (Christ) to this cruel and hard world?

The day actually reminds of the savior, the Christ who was born to save all human beings from going to hell. He was born so that the price could be paid for the things we have done that are wrong. The Bible says that we all are sinned. We are all born with a sin nature. We do things that do not please God. We need to remove those sins. The only way is through Jesus. Jesus came so he could die on the cross for all of our sins.  and that is why this day is highly regarded. His story from the history serves us a great example of love and hope. It brought salvation to all of us. Without Jesus, we would all die in our sins. Most Christians attend church services during the eve of Christmas and on the day of Christmas as well. Sermons are usually based around the birth of Jesus and its importance to all humankind. The day is also commemorated by singing popular carols with various communities engaging in different festival activities. Jesus was born so one day the price could be paid for the things we have done that are wrong. The Bible says that all have sinned. We are all born with a sin nature. We do things that do not please God. We need to remove those sins. The only way is through Jesus. Jesus came so he could die on the cross for all of our sins. If we believe that Jesus died for our sins, we can ask him to come into our hearts and forgive us. Then, we are clean and made whole. We can know that heaven is a place where we can go to when this life is over.

During Christmas celebrations, people usually calls for family meals and also share gifts with each other. Some celebrate the special occasion through providing things such as food, clothing, medication and shelter to those who may not be able to afford them or are just unfortunate. The day is made colorful by decorations that include Christmas trees, lights, nativity scenes, garlands, mistletoe and wreaths.

Thus, Christmas can be evaluated as the season great joy. It is a time of God showing his great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewing strength.
